As I let the dogs out this morning, I heard the pitiful scream of a wounded animal. Knowing my love for animals, I had to investigate and help if I could. I found one of the feral cats with a baby bunny in it's mouth. The bunny was screaming and trying to get free. Without even thinking about my own safety, I grabbed the cat and the bunny fell to the ground. The bunny is hurt and scared so I thought I'd take it to Bridgette. The old fox would know what to do. She immediately went into mother mode and started grooming the baby. Bridgette looked up at me with the saddest look in her eyes, knowing the baby will die anyway but that she will not let it die scared and alone. She's keeping an ever maternal vigilance on the baby bunny so those stupid feral cats can't get it.

I apologize for the wind noise!

  • Bridgette is beautiful. And the way you describe her maternal instinct reminds me of one of my parent's doxie who will mother anything she can. If she heard puppies crying on the tv, she will hunt for them

  • @everfaraway Yeah Bridgie was always "foxy" in every sense of the word, she'd continue to hunt but when it came to mothering something, she took it very seriously. :o)

  • Man did you see the fox's eyes? That's sadness, seriously any idiot can feel she is sad and hurt for the baby's condition. Why the heck we keep hunting animals? Well I can accept someone's own survival thugh. ANYWAY I love foxes, they do rock!

  • @NollieFlipX Yes this one was a VERY special little girl. She knew what she needed to do and she did it, no questions asked. Then when the bunny finally died, she gave me a nod letting me know that her job was done, and I removed it. A very special soul indeed this one was.

  • Ok, any of these videos i watch are fantastic but i dont appreceate all the negativity torward the owner. Shes educating me at this because i love foxes and all i see is TROLL in the comments.you folks either grow up or actually learn a thing or two here.

  • @zionfeather7 Thanks so much for your comment! We really appreciate your support! :o) Ah yes even after 3 years, this video still draws a lot of attention! ;o)

  • Wow. I kind of expected a fox to want to eat a baby bunny.

Its so sweet when different species get along. :3

  • @brinx513 There! YOU got the point of this video! Wonder why it's so hard for other's to 'get it'! I made these 2 videos to show what a wonderful, caring, maternal, nature Bridgie has! I mean she HAS made kills before, however it was just different with this little bunny. She wanted to nurture it!

  • did the baby bunny die?

  • I've been watching your videos for a while now and I just found these two concerning the rabbit. It breaks my heart to know that the baby passed away but I think it's amazing that Bridgette cared for it. Such a sweet and incredible girl. It makes me happy to know you cared for her (and still care for Kevie) so well and love them both. Best wishes to you and your family!

  • Yeah, well, the cat has gotta eat too :) Too many bunnies are a bad thing, can't tell you how many holes I've sprained my ankle on because of the varmints!

  • tails and cream

  • what do you mean why do we keep hunting these animals that rabbit was attacked by another animal re re im not saying it was the fox though

  • that is a pet fox right?
