Dandansoy8 thank you for the correction but it is what it is. It was sung as it was written - Perla del mar de Oriente which translates to "Pearl of the sea of the Orient". I wish you were right but Rizal was using this metaphor to write about his country, (where the archipelago is likened to a broken pearl), and sadly, not about her mother's pearl. A little googling won't hurt.
