Given that this tutorial is already out there for the world to consume and abuse, this information can help you avoid this glitch.
If you've been playing Dungeon Defenders on the console you may have experienced level "0" players coming in and being able to take off with your locked items you've left on the Tavern floor.
This is a result of a glitch caused from the removal of a USB storage device upon loading of the game. The individual(s) doing this glitch load their gamesave off a compatible USB storage device for the console and then immediately remove it upon loading up their gamesave. They then go on to create a generic blank playable character that has no stats or items. Ultimately, being able to join someone else's game and if the host has any locked items on the Tavern floor, the individual(s) has the ability to pick those items up.
It's worth noting that if you remove your USB storage device when it is loading or saving it can corrupt whatever save it already on the drive. So if someone is stupid enough to do this glitch without backing us any existing save(s) they are more than likely going to lose whatever they had on the drive.
The moral of the story?
1. Regularly back up your gamesave(s).
2. Keep your Online Multiplayers games "Private".
3. Play with known "friends" that you trust.
4. AUTO-kick any level 0 nobodies that join your game. IE: Have no stats or equipped items.
5. Don't keep anything you deem "valuable" on the Tavern floor, locked or otherwise.
6. See #2.
FINAL THOUGHTS:
The best way to avoid these types of glitches is to know how they are accomplished. The wider they spread, the easier it can be to get the developers attention and to have them patched (if at all possible). Given the costs and time involved in patching a console video game wouldn't you want Trendy to get this fixed in the first, and most likely, only patch that will get released on console(s)?
Remember, the first patch for a game is FREE with each one after that costing ~$10,000+. I would think people would rather the first, and likely only, patch get pushed back from Certification for this "new" glitch to get addressed rather than it possibly never getting fixed at all. Assuming it isn't already being addressed for this first patch.
Special thanks to CountryJoe1972 for letting us know about this glitch.
