Recently, Russia has increased its diplomatic offensive on this continent, which for more than a century was considered a U.S. backyard. Which benefits can Russia gain from its cooperation with Latin America? And what may the U.S. do to keep its clout in the region? We will talk about it with the Deputy Director of the Carnegie Moscow Centre, Dmitry Trenin, and Alla Zenkovich, the Director of the Latin American Centre at the Moscow State University of International Relations.

This is an oil producing country that can't keep the lights running all day. It is a rich fertile country that can't produce enough food. Chavez has taken a wealthy country with vast natural resources and run it into the ground. His people live in poverty and he spends the nations wealth on Russian made jets. Why?

Evo Morales is a racist who is dividing his country and certainly the US did not place him into office. We did not place Evita Peron or her Nazi loving husband into office either. if anything i think that russia isnt using its relations with latin america to its full potential... the us has welcomed many former soviet republics as well as former east european satellite"s into NATO and has military bases on their soil and missiles that could reach russian territory in seconds so i think in the interest of fairness russia could justifiably start their own military alliance maybe have cuba, nicaragua, venezuala and bolivia as members and station missiles on thir territory...

I'd prefer it if the descendants of European boat people stay in the US, even if they're tempted to leave for economic reasons. What happens is many head to Asia or the Middle East where Euro-Caucasians are a small minority, make trouble and whine incessantly about their new adopted home.
