If you don't mind me asking Strefanash,do you approve of double basses being plucked, because basically, in principle, if you do, plucking a bass is like gelding a stallion. It stands to reason that the bow can bring out so much more of a sound than a plucked string of a design such as the violin family engenders as compared to the guitar family which was designed to be plucked and not bowed as evidenced by the flat fret board with six strings instead of four. You have a right to your taste 'but'

It is so good to see the double bass get a chance to be played like the cello gets all the time. This is a worthy esample, hopefully encouraging more fine examples. Special thanks to igorzil for providing the clip and to Yury Frolovand his orchestra and particularly to my favourite composer, the best example of how good one can get when the glory is given to God and centred around God rather than ugly old self. All of the avoidable suffering comes from selfishness alone!

Im sorry, but for me a bass is 8 of us (I am, or rather was, a bass player) thundering in the bottom of a great symphony, or one of us putting down the continuo in a baroque work.
I never really liked the sound of the solo double bass, and it certainly sounds worse hearing it as a listener rather than under your own ear as a player (it does sound different when you are playing it, I assure you

i agree
@Strefanash I think you're closed-minded, then. This is just beautiful. Why play an instrument if you don't even appreciate its full capabilites?
