*WARNING: flashing lights abrupt. Do be wary of watching this if you have elipsy.* This was another game that I could not figure out how to play. It took me years to find out exactly what I needed to do. Thanks to the trusty manual, I now have the ability to beat this game. A nice little thing I can remember about this game is that I once played this on Christmas day before we went to open our presents in circa 2002.

Hoo boy. The manual sure give a long description for the Mission Operations of this game. I'll give a summary of it here: Protect your starbases and destroy all enemy fighters. Press the X button to fire lasers or initiate warp sequence and [] button to access the galactic map. Your onboard computer is code-named MACC (Mission/Attack Control Computer). It keeps track of the energy remaining (E), energy required for warping to another sector (W), elapsed time (S), and damage control (D). Damage control is represented as L for Laser Damage, S for Shields (most fatal), W for Warp, and R for Radar. A yellow flash indicates ship damage, blue for firing enemy attacks and meteors, and red for destroying the enemy.

First a struggle, then victory. This is the second time I had achieved in completing the mission. To think that I also recieved two types of damage control for the first time, too.

  • Nice job at 1:42. That was a fight to the death because your shields were out.

  • Thanks. It certainly took a good deal of careful manuvering and enthusiastic shooting to take care of that enemy, as I recall.

  • way to confusing...........

  • Have you read the description? That might clear up some of the confusion for you.

  • @TheLastBrainLeft Agreed, better graphics and easier shooting.

  • This game was better than Star Raiders, though my favorite first person shooter was Mattel's Space Attack.

  • @metemi did you try the instruction book? They're pretty nice to tell you how to play games you buy.

  • When I was a kid I paid $60 for this piece of crap lol I had no idea what to do with it.

  • i loved this game too!, even tho i remember being scared playing it

  • I had this cartridge! It really pushed the limits of what the Atari 2600 could do. Very involved game. 1st Atari game cart I remember where you had to read the manual before you could play the game. You'd warp to different parts of space and fight bad guys. You had to make sure you didn't run out of energy. You had to use one of the switches on the 2600 console to bring up the map, I can't remember which one.

  • I remember that you COULDNT play this on B&W set so I had to take it out of my room (B&W set) and bring it to living room where toe colour set was to play it!

  • I loved this game - it was Activision's answer to Atari's Star Raiders.

I remember in September of '83, shortly after my Parents announced their Divorce, I was really depressed & started skipping Church & one dark, depressing Sunday I started playing this game while my Mom (going through a midlife crisis) started blasting some depressing Jimmy Buffet song on her new stereo.

Just what I needed - more depression - thanks, Mom....at least I got to blast a lot of Aliens that day thanks to Activision
