Jeff Buckley's rendition of Nusrat Fateh Ali Khan's famous 'Yeh jo Halka Halka Suroor Hai', live at Sine in 1993. Excerpts are taken from an interview conducted by Jeff with Nusrat in January 1996 as well as from a dedication written by Jeff on his hero in 1997.

    I've never heard an American man sing so beautifully in hindi and hit every note and have such wicked pronunciation!! I love Jeff Buckley, but today he has reached new heights to me, i'm blown away. I feel so inspired and unbelievably shocked right now. I am in love

    Wow. Absolutely amazing. I've never heard a non-Urdu speaker sing an Urdu song with such passion and feeling. I like a few of Jeff Buckley's songs but I am now starting to realise what a genius this guy actually was.

    With regard to the Urdu/Hindi comparison, both languages sound similar but Urdu has more Persian and Arabic influences whereas Hindi has Sanskrit influences, hence the completely different alphabets.But an Urdu speaker would have no problems conversing with a Hindi speaker.
