You don't need to leave your four-legged friend behind when you take a road trip if you follow these tips for safety.

To complete this How-To you will need:

A crate, harness, or barrier
A dog collar
Identification tags
Clean-up bags

Warning: Avoid leaving your dog alone in a parked vehicle. Temperatures can rise quickly inside a car, leading to heat stress or suffocation.

Step 1: Restrain your dog

Restrain your dog in the car and keep them safe with a crate, a safety harness, or a barrier.

Tip: Use a crate for the most secure method of travel. Secure the crate so it doesn't move around while you're driving.

Step 2: Take short trips

Take short trips to get your dog used to being in the car and used to the restraint.

Step 3: Talk to your veterinarian

Avoid feeding your dog for three or four hours before a car ride and consult your veterinarian if your dog gets carsick.

Step 4: Get a secure collar

Get your dog a secure collar with your cell phone number on it, in case you get separated while traveling.

Step 5: Stop frequently

Stop often so your dog can relieve themselves and have some water. Use the clean-up bags.

Tip: Don't let your dog ride with their head out the window or in the back of a truck. Injuries can occur from flying debris or sudden starts and stops.

Step 6: Water your dog

Give your dog water and lots of love when you get to your final destination. Enjoy your trip, knowing that your furry friend will be with you all the way.

  • Yo peaple don't look at this shit, the safety way is to put the dog on the floor on the right side and to cancel the safety pillow. If your dog will stay on the seat it will fly away at the accident.
