Personally i prefer the Jimmy Nail version which I can't find on here. I think his voice is much better suited to the story within the song. Thanks

Class, it's all about class and style. Paddy and Martin McAloon are top-notch musician and song writers, no questions. Surely under-rated but doesn't that happen to most geniuses? I wish all the best to Paddy for his health troubles that I hope he could overcome!!

Brilliant song and IMHO SO much better than the Jimmy Nail version (dynamics, singing voice - that banjo break!) AND it has those slightly ambiguous (implied?)harmonies on Yippe I Aye. It sounds a very sad song at its heart to me - don't know if Paddy had that in mind - maybe not. Ah - this version is edited down from the album version - no banjo break!

Not too often has a singer of this qualtiy also been such a wonderful songwriter.
Paddy has very few peers.
