The significance of this song, is that Stephen came out to the Fort Worth Christmas All Stars show Christmas night 2008 to sit in for a few tunes. The guys were about to take a break, when Stephen asked to play one more song, "Don't Put No Tombstone On My Grave". This was the last song Stephen played in Fort Worth, and the last time his friends got to play with him. It was only right that the memorial be closed out with this song.
A memorial concert was held at the McDavid Studio in Fort Worth, TX Sunday, May 17th, 2009 in honor of Stephen Bruton. Musicians who were friends of Stephen got together to play in honor of the Fort Worth native. This is a performance of "Don't Put No Tombstone on my Grave". Dave Millsap and Lewis Stephens, who both perform on this song, are the two responsible for putting the memorial together. Yoggie Musgrove, who was part of Bruton's band, came towards the end of the benefit, and closed it out with the band, playing all Bruton compositions.
