I just want to say, that although people were very generous with compliments for my mother, for taking on the challenge of adopting a child with FASD, it was traumatic for my sister and myself. And I wish my parents had known more about just how emotionally stunted these children can be, and how difficult it was to grow up with one in the same age range. I know I didnt understand what was going on when she raged and destroyed my room, or went into hysteric fits. I just remember being terrified.

My family adopted a child with FASD. She had the facial features typical of children with fasd, and she struggled in school and had to have a physiotherapist to work with her, just to develop normal motorskills. We got her a horse to ride which helped her a lot. She finished highschool, then struggled through college and is a teacher in middleschool today. She was emotionally immature for her age, motorically challenged. But she never gave up even when she had to work thrice as hard as us.

I had some teens in my classroom with FAS. They could take care of themselves in terms if hygene, feeding themselves, getting dressed, commuting to school, etc.

But they couldn't sit through a class. They did much better with manual jobs.
