Jaguar has unveiled its XKR and XFR at the 2009 Detroit Auto Show, as well as the 2010 XK and a lineup of new engines. Jaguar Managing Director Mike O'Driscoll says the new models are "true to the Jaguar philosophy of creating beautiful, fast cars."

There should be special emphasis on the word "fast," since the XFR is claimed to be the fastest ever Jaguar. A slightly modified prototype topped 225 mph at the Bonneville Salt Flats in November.

A new high-performance diesel engine and a new generation of gasoline engines were rolled out that Jaguar says promise better performance as well as improved fuel economy with lower emissions.

The new AJ-V8 Gen III direct-injection V8 in the XF and XK is now a 5.0-liter engine making 380 horsepower in the XF and 385 in the XK. The diesel engine is a 3.0-liter AJ-V6D Gen II power plant with twin sequential turbocharging that makes 272 hp.

The XFR and XKR models get a supercharged version of the V8 that makes 510 hp and get to 60 mph in 4.7 seconds for the XFR, 4.6 for the XKR.

The 2010 XF gets a Portfolio edition that adds a further layer of luxury onto the Jaguar. All XKs get a new front-end design, new LED taillights and a new lower rear body valance.

In the U.K., the base XF starts at the equivalent of $41,200, while the XFR is priced at $86,850. The XK starts at $86,850, and the XKR is priced at $104,985 for the coupe version and $113,670 for the convertible version. All will be on sale in late March in the U.K., says Jaguar.

  • Ford didn't modify the suspension, for the diff or modify the engine for this car, they didn't design it. Build it. Or do anything else to it. This new model was designed in Britain, you people need to forget the past.

  • This car is newer than the CTS-V. and if they did a Nurburg race it'd be with the 600HP version.. I can tell you the XF-R underneath is a lot more advanced than the CTS-V.

  • @bloozeman101 This car is the future of Jaguar it might not be reminiscent of the Jaguar you know, but i think that was Jaguars downfall they had become to set in their old ways and their designs had become stale and this started to hurt their sales.

However having looked at this car and future designs making their way into production i feel Jaguar has become modern and fresh and will appeal to a broad spectrum of people, which will save a brand that deserves to be here. :)

  • It is not a true jaguar.

It is a hatchback ----sure, it is more practical, but its not "jaguarish" enough

and im sorry for all you jaguar enthusiasts, but its my opinion. X

  • yeah i suppose if you havent been blessed with the gift of sight than it may look like a mondeo. you fool, how can you compare one of the greatest 4 door sedans to a boring old mondeo.

  • IT'S A MONDEO!!!!!!

  • I will admit that i haven't seen it in person, but i don't have an "eye for detail problem" I just think Jag have lost any styling ingenuity they had and made a fast, but bland car in comparison with a lot of other cars on the market today. I would much rather have a new audi than this jag, the styling is much more unique, and more affordable to most people, with performance that can be comparable.

  • No car looks exactly the same. Or "Like". Seriously, if you think this looks like a Volvo, you have serious eye for detail problems.

Take side view for example. You can't get much better than that. It looks more like a coupe than a 4 Door.

And, when seen in person (Which you probably haven't)

It's easy to distinguish that this is an XF. It's just got that stance, the colour options are much better than on most of cars.

They're also built in an extremely high tech factory.

  • man, it looks abit like a volvo, i just think the styling is abit bland, thats all. I think Jag have lost abit of ingenuity with their design, for example, think about how iconic the E type was, that was like, a shape everyone could remember. If you saw this without badges on, driving down the road, you wouldn't instantly be like "Oh look, a jag" It would be more like " Could be an audi, lexus,Volvo" if you get what im saying.

  • Shame it looks shit? Well, maybe in your eyes. In mine it's beautiful. Too bad.

  • no they put a smaller supercharger pully on ,removed the cat,s in the exhaust,re mapped the ecu,and put a better induction system on the car,i know this as paramount are doing my xfr at the moment, and it will give a true 600 bhp
