When a car's instrument lights come on, it could be because of low fuel, it could be a check-engine light that requires a trip to the auto shop, or it could be an engine overheating. Interpret a car's warning lights with tips from a mechanic in this free car-care and automotive maintenance video.

  • ladies and gentlemen i present to you, Captain Obvious.

  • if you have the check engine light on, and you take it to mechanic, he will break your car and lie to you and charge you for lots of unnecessary work. Just wait and see if the car breaks down. Usually the light means nothing. Half the cars I've seen have those lights on forever and it means nothing.

  • @dreamjournal wow you are pathetic

  • or just buy an old chrysler. it tells you what each light means

  • thank you for the piercing glimpse into the obvious.

  • Dude makes me wanna take the bus.

  • To check your OWN code......

Turn your ignition switch to ON-OFF-ON-OFF_ON in that order. The CODE will be in your Trip milage display! Cool huh?

  • I have engine warning light on & it wont pass inspection now.

I found code P0240 on my 2001 Dodge Dakota 4 cly. What does this mean?

  • It always means something (emissions controll sensor) , its just not a huge problem with the car unless the light is flashing constantly wich means raw fuel is geting to the Cat

  • Could be anything, have the codes read for free at autozone and look online for what the code means and how to fix it. You should be able to download a service manual for you car which will have all the "definitions" for the code.

  • Hey now, if it wasn't for him, we wouldn't know that the low fuel light means we have low fuel. :/

  • READ YOUR OWNERS MANUAL.
