The sad crash of my classic 1980's Skymaster Biplane ... first I thought it was my mistake on sticks while inverted ... but watching the video shows that she dived straight in without any deviation - which should have been given the stick movements at the time. FORGIVE my bad words near the end but I was really angry to lose such a great model and engine.
Later inspection of model - probably repairable with care. Spoke to originbal designer / builder and unfortunately no kits since 90's ... so it's repair or nothing. Engine is completely ruined and uneconomic to repair.

If anyone has a fuselage or parts for the Skymaster - can they please contact me ? via nluther"at"solent-life.co.uk ( replace the "at" with @ ) ... or via this youtube site / account ...

  • Mr53Peper ... what a silly post you make ... your other post on maiden flight brands me a bad pilot, now here you do again -[ do you not read the comments I write to explain the problem ? I had the same stall problem on closing throttle, small modifications made before this final crash - all seemed Ok - so I went into inverted routine, as I turned her to do a pass down the runway - the elevator servo failed. At first I thought I went wrong way - but no - servo failed.

  • Once sorted - they are a fabulous plane to fly. Agile like a Pitts, but with the longer fuselage will slow and be docile as a Tiger Moth. Since it's maiden I had trouble with landing it, initially we thought was engine thrust lines, but most likely is that elevator servo and possible interaction with ignition system.... who knows ? But yes she's already 1/2way through repairs and I hope that in new year, she'll be up there again. May not look so concours as she did .. but that's life.

  • Bounce back ! Even my wife when I got home was upset. I phoned Phil Ramsay - one of the original; team that designed / flew these for Skyleader when I was at home .. as it was him that got me flying one in the 1980's. Sadly he stopped kit manufacture years ago and no replacement parts available anymore. e did ask that if anyone has videos / photos of the Skyleader Skymaster Display team can they pass them on ? I would be happy to be the conduit for any that are out there ...

  • Ooouuuuhhh! That hurt to watch! I hope you can repair her. What a beautiful flight up until the bitter end! -- NJSwede

  • Love hurts! But we keep flying. Hope you get her fixed and flying again. She's a beautiful plane, with a lot of history.
