Albany New Zealand December 2010
Long story, but we had to move these Geese as they were crossing a main road to get at fresh grass. We set up and trapped all, 16, but this one escaped. I felt bad about him spending Christmas without his mates, I kept going back looking for him. As luck would have it, 2x days later I found he had joined a flock of domestic ducks that had been dumped / released into the creek. (These were starving and are another story) As the ducks were so hungry they would come right up to me and were taking food out of my hands.
He came to close and I grabbed him. Then it sunk in I had no cage as it was in the car a fair way from me.
Anyway here he is walking up the drive to where his mates are. It does take a bit of time, but the wait is worth it. You will hear the happiness. And he seems to be the Alpher Male.
I would like to thank the people who have given them a wounderful new home to free reange in
