This is a short video taken with my Canon camera of the abject destruction caused by the Buffalo "October Surprise" Storm on October 12-13. The camera is a still camera with a video option. This means the quality is rather low, but you can get an idea of the devastation.

For those that wondered, the last time we got this much snow this early in the year was over 100 years ago. So this is NOT common in Buffalo in October.

  • man you got weak trees your city didnt fertilize them why out here in snow country where the trees are of the exact type you have here the difference is we got stronger trees and better snow heavier whiter and we dont even have to boil our snow its clean with natural vitamins.

  • A couple things you need to keep in mind here. For one, this happened in Mid-October. Mid-October is still early Fall in Buffalo, and that year it had been a warm Fall, so most of the leaves were still on the trees, and still green! Secondly, many of the trees you see here are Silver Maples, which is a very softwood tree and already prone to breakage, even when healthy, which most of these trees were...

  • Lastly, during this storm we received over a foot of snow in an 8 hour period, which is a HUGE amount of snow for us. It was the trifecta of destruction.

  • I miss Buffalo snowstorms..

Originaly from Buffalo, my family and I moved from Buffalo after the Great Blizzard of 77. I was 8 years old then but Still remember it well..

  • i remember getting up and having the next door neighbors power lines arching from the tree branch

  • 2 feet of snow is nothing for our trees but when the snows 50% water and the trees still have their leavs its not good and no tree can hold that.

  • Our lovely corrupt politicians are selling it!!!! Go joel giambra(county executive)

  • during the storm a transformer blew up right outside my bed room window. it was cool it made the sky look blue even though it was like 3 in the morning, but i was so friken scared that it was going to get my house on fire.

  • it was pretty crazy man. check out my video its a little longer

  • holy. I live in fort erie, canada, its bad here too, but not that bad :)
