I was lucky too, to hear the sound of this perfect organ played by a really good organplayer Ben van Oosten almost two weeks before at the 16th of August..Trully a superb experience if u consider that the concert was at 8 o'clock in the evening..One of the best music experiences i've ever had!

ya did a great job,,,just play it a few more times, and you got it! lol You play about a million times better than me. How's this organ,,,,little bit of a lag? that can't be easy at times

@agroot3 OK it's now been 3 years. LOL Have you found parts 1,2 and 3 yet? Sure would love to hear those too. Thank you for this video.

Dass man die Haltebögen bei Boellmann einhalten will bedeutet NICHT, dass man das Werk kaputt spielen DARF!!!
Geht garnicht!

When I visited the cathedral, it sounded like someone let a child just go ahead and pound on the keys. I have no idea what was going on!

I agree with your comments about the organ. I think many would take significant offense at your political comments regarding the effects of the war. Perhaps you should ask the people of Coventry. As for what Russia did after the war, that's a different story.
It's a fantastic organ and a fantastic piece, but there's something a bit flaccid about this performance of the Toccata - too slow and lacking rhythmic drive.

@EccentricRichard Maybe it is not a professional who played it (practizing student?). I was only a visitor. adn enjoyed the atmosphere, I wish I could play as well as the man or woman that performed Boelmann that afternoon. I would be very very proud.

I just found this video and I have to say this is one of the most beautiful sounds from an organ I have ever heard. Thank you and please let us hear more of this great instrument.

Unfortunately I lost the tape with part 1,2 and 3. I hope I will find it soon.

Is this organ console pneumatic?
chamade216 4 years ago
....the windchests were cone-valve chests, except in the case of the Rückpositiv, which was a membrane-chest. The action was pneumatic. Although there were several plans (Rudolf von Beckerath, 1942; Schuke, 1953) to electrify the organ these plans were never realised.
Although no attempt was made to remedy various shortcomings of the period, including the pneumatic action, the instrument has now been fully restored.
