Just bought a Canon FS100 Flash based format Camcorder.
Great camera. Testing it out today. Found a butterfly crawling in the grass. It had just hatched out of it's chrysalis and if they do not stretch right away allowing their blood to flow expanding the wings they are crippled for life. Would have been ant or lizard food soon if I had not found it. Will put it up and it will earn its keep as a model for me. Found the plant it likes (pentas) Marie tells me so it is stuffed with pollen. It hangs out on the porch looking at the sun it can never reach until I take it out to feed. Luckybutt is chillin after the shoot so I send this test vid to all you Canon FS100 owners or noobs.
Use SDCopy (free) For Info:

For File:

to read off the card. The Canon software so far anyway does not mantain the 16:9 widescreen format on windows media player for me. SD Copy when you run it will read the card. Tell Sdcopy where you want the converted file to go and click start. You will then have a MPEG2 file that will open in WMP with all the excellant quality the FS100 can give you. So this vid is a straight MPEG2 99MB 1 Min 23 secs long. No tripod, high noon, slight wind. Camera stereo mikes picks up the flapping wings and the puff of wind. Looks VERY nice on my Optiquest 22" monitor.
P.S. Just saw the vid and will try to convert the mpeg to dvix files then compare. If any one has sugestions for best format to web for this camera PLEASE post. Also glare is from UV filter I put on to protect lens. Thanks, Duncan
Wow Amazing butterfly, to bad it had some torn up wings :/

Hey, you asked about file formats for the Canon. I have the Canon FS10 and posted a video response with a file I uploaded. I used sdcopy to transfer the files then Sony Vegas to render a WMV, I've tried different settings and the latest one seems to be the best for YouTube at least. I've tried an HD MP4 format and it has a lot of motion blur...I think WMV or the raw MPEG is the way to go for YouTube. But the latest video "flying over Alaska" was recognized by youtube as HD.

With clear shipping tape. Scotch tape will work to. It is working really well. I keep the camera in a holster so I can take it out quickly and it stays fine. The electronis viewfinder looks delicate and any sand/grit may do it in. Little bit of lens flare is OK in my nature shots in exchange for peace of mind.
