...............They all have something very important to say. Of course this interview was a while ago now and the fact that the occupy movement has grown so big just proves Peter Hitchens wrong in my opinion.

Peter Hitchens has no idea about the occupy movement. What he says about letting the campers experience real discomfort is total rubish: some of them already have experienced real poverty and hardship, living on the streets, having nothing to eat, no where to go to. On the other hand some of the protesters are well off and quite priviledged, and are trying to juggle a full time job, a family and other aspects of life while standing up for what they believe in! .....................

I'm a student and I agree with Peter Hitchens!

I agree with everything Peter Hitchens says. I've never understood why we take so much interest in what students think. Students are children: most of them have never paid taxes, raised a family, etc. and a lot of them will never have done a day's work in their life. Go to university, travel the world, work hard for 20 years, and then come back when you may have something vaguely interesting to say.

The caller after Hitchens alluded to the fact that Hitchens hadn't been there. Hitchens explained that he'd spent rather a lot of time down there...

You know what really amazes me about this occupy movement now? There is one in Belfast. Fucking Belfast! What the hell. We used to have have decent protests, now there are just a bunch of scruffy looking blokes outside St. Anne's Cathedral, heating up a tin of baked beans in their tents. Dear God, I'm telling ya, now that Belfast is involved it can go global. The govt is really worried now, I'm telling ya!

No. Peter Hitchens is exactly correct in everything he says in this interview. Having been down myself, my opinions were exactly the same as his (I went before his visit). I could not put it better than he has done in this interview.

No one is against Capitalism, so the phony iPod comments are pure crap. This is about corruption in government. And the solutions is to remove corruption from government. To get the financial business, the banking industry, and general industry under control, to enforce environmental regulations, to prevent fraud in investing.
Corruption is the problem, not capitalism.

Peter Hitchens, who is the first person to speak, is full of crap. He is an admitted Conservative, meaning, he supports the rich to the detriment of the poor & middle class. Naturally he denigrates those protesting the corruption that he strives to preserve. Naturally he supports the corruption that puts money in his pocket. This is not about the rich being rich, this is about corruption. This is about the undue influence of big business money and favoritism in government.

How did I miss this? I usually listen to LBC.
@CosmicScaleFactor Oh no, you are right - I am crazy. I'm just crazy in the constructive sense; I don't kill people.
