  • Gary Oldman is an absolute brilliant actor. Sid Vicious, Dracula, Sirius Black, etc.

  • Thanks for posting this. I enjoyed this movie it has two of my favorite actors Sean and Gary but this movie totally belonged to Gary. I've never seen anyone upstage Penn like he did. Granted his character is the upstaging type.

  • Great movie for the first two thirds, then it turns to shit. The awful, ridiculous ending delivers the death blow.

  • I thought "State of Grace" was a really good movie. Gary Oldman and Sean Penn are top notch

  • if Ebert is the state of grace, I'll take sin

  • Yep, it's a good movie, but Goodfellas is by far better, easily the best mob movie of all time.

  • Comparing Goodfellas is a little unfair. Goodfellas is considered on the greatest movies of the 20th century

  • @chrisjmonty This is a very good movie but i am going to disagree with you about this being the best gangster movie of all time..There are 4 movies that are better...The Godfather 1&2,Once upon a time in America and Goodfellas.

  • @reignman2112 I love this movie, but let's get serious--it's nowhere near Goodfellas.

  • this might be the most underrated gangstermovie ever. a fantastic cast - not only Penn and Oldman, but also Harris and John C. Reilly and a very dark storyline... i love this.

  • @martywhitevan Yeah. Ed Harris' dynamic in any film seems to go unnoticed by so many because he never acheived A-list. Harry Dean Stanton is another actor in that class. But take them out of a scene and replace them with another A-list actor and the movie would lose so much substance and of course be replaced with style. i:e, a modern overrated Hollywood trashterpiece.
