http://www.euronews.com/ Thirty demonstrators were arrested in Moscow during protests outside the Russian parliament as a bill that bans Americans from adopting Russian orphans was approved.
The measures counter American legislation - the so-called Magnitsky law - that targets Russians believed to have been involved in the death of lawyer Sergei Magnitsky while he was in custody.
It also bans non-profit Russian groups from receiving US funding, and was passed by an overwhelming majority, but there is some high-profile opposition.
Russia's foreign minister Sergei Lavrov told euronews: "If we put a stop to adoption, that means one thing: that we will have to revoke the agreement on international adoption with the United States. If we revoke it, we will no longer have any right legally to demand access to our children abroad. If only for that reason, I won't react so strongly.
The bill is expected to pass its final reading on Friday, but the Kremlin is well aware of possible long-term damage to already deteriorating relations with the US and there are some doubts about whether President Putin will sign it into law.

the ruskies dont understand how cool it is to have machine gun carrying kids selling crack to there elementary school mates, and when they see cops beating people to near death rodny king style, they think thats wrong. How dare they suggest that " america, what small contry are they going to destroy next, the beautiful" isnt perfect.

talking about evil ..
from the New Zealand Herald...... Many Russians have been angered by cases of adopted children who have died or suffered abuse at the hands of their adopted parents. They also complain that US courts have been lax about punishing abusers.
The Russian measure is named after toddler Dima Yakovlev, who died in 2008 after being left for hours in a car in the broiling heat. His adoptive American father was acquitted of charges of involuntary manslaughter.
