Last year 25 U.S. Marines died in motorcycle accidents, while 22 were killed in Operation Iraqi Freedom and 21 in Operation Enduring Freedom. In an effort to save lives at home, the Marines Corp Safety Board is focusing on motorcycle safety with a variety of efforts including an action packed film called Semper Ride. The 60-minute film produced by action sports' top filmmakers features a responsible riding theme, instructional material and mentoring from the motorcycle industry's most talented riders.
"It's our responsibility to keep our men and women in the Marines safe whether they are in uniform or at home," says The Marine Corps Executive Safety Board. "We're making a major investment in saving lives with a series of Marine motorcycle training programs and the use of this film. Hopefully, riders will now be more aware of the risks and better armed to avoid injury or death while riding."
Semper Ride educates riders on a wide variety of motorcycle riding disciplines, including motocross, sport bikes, street bikes and dual sport machines. Different riding styles and terrain are reviewed with an emphasis on those who pursue riding motorcycles for sport and thrills; the "high risk population." First-class instructors, pro riders and other experts explain in detail what each individual bike is intended to do, and how to ultimately become a better rider. Semper Ride will be shown at major premiere events at Marine bases and as a section of the training programs.
"Semper Ride is first and foremost is about saving lives, by bringing in the best riders, experts and production tools we've also created an incredibly compelling film," says Dirk Collins or Jeff Tilton, Producer, Semper Ride. "Secondary, it is an high action moto film with mind-blowing footage of the best riders to give an inspiration to ride, but do so safely."
Bringing together the best talent in action sports film production Semper Ride's look, feel and pace, is unlike any safety film seen before. Pro riders including Myles Richmond, Tommy Clowers, Jeremy McGrath, Ronnie Renner, James Stewart, Keith Code, Sara Price, Josh Herrin and many more jumped at the chance to offer Marines straightforward advice for staying safe, while charging hard.
The use of cutting-edge HD cinematography including the Cineflex gyro-stabilized camera mounted to trucks and helicopters offers a "rider's eye view" of the action from the all-star cast. Ride along with the ripping footage through the Imperial Sand Dunes Recreation Area, around the track at Willow Springs Raceway and to the exclusive Ronnie Renner Ranch.

Professional riders who have participated in Semper Ride - James Stewart, Ben Bostrom, Jeremy McGrath, Chris "Teach" McNeil, Ronnie Renner, Colin Edwards, Trey Canard, Tommy Clowers, Jason Britton, Jeff Tilton, Josh Herrin, Josh Hill, Keith Code, Sara Price, Myles Richmond.

  • Without question, don't take a MSF course to stay alive, take two or three of them. And speaking as someone who's into Harley's and Victory's, the manufactures need to start making bikes with ABS brakes. What the heck are they waiting for? Nice video, great upload. And to all the active duty personnel out there thanks for keeping us free. We have all the respect in the world for you guys.
