There is no actual appraiser you meet a man when entering Riften. You will then need to mention the gem after that he should ask you to meet him in the rat runs do so and then you should see vex talk to her. She will then let you know there are 24 stones in all!

I'm not going to pick up those unusual gems anymore. If you show Vex the full set of Stones, she will make you travel to Tolvald's Cave to retrieve the Crown of Barenziah. After returning with the Crown, you will receive the permanent effect Prowler's Profit, which increases the chance of finding gems in randomized containers. So after all the trouble you've been trough, all you get is this stupid effect that makes it easier to find diamonds and other gems. I have enough money...

What a waste of my time, they expect you to keep all those jems on you that you can't sell. And you can't store them either because there quest items. Those insidious basters.

When I activate the quest, it tells me to go to Maul but when I talk to him, the prompt for the gem doesnt come up. Any ideas?

Asshole, u no dialouge tree even popped up. I hate this man. btw, oliva the feeble is imortal i tried to kill her in her sleep but she regens....i tried to murder an old woman in her sleep...terrible.
