We went to the 2009 Los Angeles (LA) Auto Show looking for Bimmers, Benz's and Lexus and ended up captivated by the redesign of the 2011 Hyundai Sonata. A 200 HP 4 Cyl for under 20K? And with looks like this? I need a test drive.
@matrixloader If that's there mission I think they can do it. I've been impressed with Hyundai ever since the birth of the Azera. Their definitely a considered brand next time I'm in the market. The Genesis is incredible and Equus is jaw dropping.
The car is very beautiful. It seems Sonata is coming to Europe with the name Ix/40. I've been 'googling' and read that in some markets including UK, there is a plan to sell this sedan and a sportswagen. There'll be some changes in the looks.
whatever they are doing it seems to be working! I definitely agree with wtrdogg20 that they are not pretending to be luxury, but are adding just enough frills to get buyers who may be contemplating a purchase of a luxury or higher and car to at least take a second look at a car that might be a slight step down (like this Hyundai). It will be interesting to see what comes next in the line for the redesign.
hyundai is using the same moves toyota did to move on top of the american car industry, but this time toyota is the main target for hyundai and they promisse 2015 will be the year they will take over.
hyundai has this project going called 24/7 that means 7 new cars in 2 years the sonata and new tucson are #1 and #2 the elantra and accent are next.
from the spy pics the new accent looks like a mini Genesis sedan.
Thats good, then!..hahaha!...Dude, Hyundai is just improving the old formula used by Nissan and Toyota to create Infinity and Lexus back in the 80's: Get the best of the "CAR INDUSTRY OLD MEN FROM EUROPE" and put it in their cars. But what Hyundai is doing different is creating a good design, a well equiped car, without pretending to be a Luxury or Premium brand, just being a great car, with great quality, non-premium brand, but delivering a huge Bang for the Buck, the regular Hyundai formula.
I am starting to like Hyundai !

Hyundai has arrived , period. To say otherwise is simply not wanting to accept another player in the auto industry.

That is very true. They have found a great formula and using it very wisely. I can see hyundai on top of the automotive world in less than a dacade.
