Oh, and there's a good chance any other, more experienced officer would have given Guan Yu the reinforcements he so desperately needed. Enough to allow Yu and his son, Ping to escape the assault at Fan Castle. If only Zhao Yun would have dropped that damn baby. Shu would have had a proper ruler following the death of Liu Bei and Guan Yu as his faithful adviser. And Zhang Fei would have never been betrayed by his subordinates during the short lived campaign against Wu sparked by Yu's death.

If only Zhao Yun had failed, Shu would have had a different emperor. A lot of things would have changed, probably. Liu Bei would have been prompted to choose a heir sooner; most likely his adopted son, Liu Feng. Being the next apparent, he never would have been given the all important duty of sending Guan Yu reinforcements at the Battle of Fancheng. Thus, his father never would have executed him in a fit of rage. Liu Feng was described as being strong and possessing good martial skills. Shame...

If Liu Bei wasn't such a prick and hopeless father i'm sure that his son would of made a fine Leader. Atleast Zhao Yun wasn't such a dick like Liu Bei.

@Silvatheelf Haven't you read Romance of the Three Kingdoms? He actually slams the baby to the floor in disgust that his son nearly got one of his best and most valued generals killed

In the novel Liu Bei throws his son on the ground to demonstrate his anger at having almost lost Zhao Yun. No wonder Liu Chan grew up to be a poor ruler.
