Good education can change life. I experienced it first-hand. Yet in most developing countries, education quality is appallingly inadequate.
The Global Learning Platform (GLP) project will make high-quality education available to all.
Highly effective automated tutoring technology and great learning materials are available. But they are not well-integrated and access to them is still very limited.
GLP will change that by integrating the following 4 major components and make them available to billions of people via multiple channels: PCs, sub-notebooks, game consoles, mobile phones, etc.
• Intelligent Tutoring Systems: The best ones are twice as effective as classroom learning or better.
• Great learning materials: compelling experiments in virtual worlds, knowledge-filled educational games, thought-stimulating interactive exercises, videos by inspiring teachers, etc.
• Socially-Motivated Learning: learn and solve problems in team, set goals with peer groups, participate in friendly competition, etc.
• Economic System: Draw talented people and copyright holders to join in. Cost little to learners because of economy of scale, competition, and sponsorships.
Billions of youth and adults can improve their lives with significantly more effective education, both of academic and practical kinds.
Moreover, underprivileged members of our global village will finally be given a chance to create the futures they and their families deserve.
