Apprently Ellison wants to create an empire that dominates both of hardware and software. IMHO, that won't work. Sun has never been in a great shape last 10 years, spent tons of money on CPU/Server development yet SPARC's been always behind x86 camp, I can't see how Oracle can turn the thing around. Makes no sense.When I heard of this news last May, the 1st thing came across my mind was the similar deal as People Soft from many years ago. i.e. Getting rid of SPARC and cutting the support costs.
