NEVER take assumptions EVER
if ANYTHING happened and the person says: "it's not what it looks like"
i give it a chance for explanation before spazing out
if the explanation is what it look's like, the person couldn't explain squat or
the person stutters and or gets confused as if they were making up an explanation i'd beat the crap out of the person
if the person actually gives a decent explanation i let it slide... assumption is the down bringer of society! seriously -_-

The guy should have stayed behind the camera, directing his skit instead of trying do it all himself.
And the end is the wrong choice. Introducing "racism" as a way of conveying that a simple crosscultural misundesrtanding could lead to more serious wrong perceptions might look very interested on paper, but takes the comicity out of the skit. You are right: too elaborated.
(Still I've heard people lauging at it at the cinema;-)
