    Yes it is a Mk XVI. However not a lot of people know that the Mk IX & Mk XVI were built along side each other at the same time at Castle Bromwich. Some Mk XVI's were built with the Malcolm hood and a few Mk IX's were built with the bubble canopy! I am not sure if any Mk IX's with bubble canopies survive- so if you see what looks like a Mk IX with a bubble canopy then it is almost certainly a Mk IX..
