I asked my western- and John Wayne-loving father to watch this film; when finished, I asked him how he liked it. "I hated it." I replied, "WHAT?!?" His explanation: "You couldn't tell who were the good guys and who were the bad guys." "That's life, Dad," explained his gray-son.

Its pretty much the greatest western ever made. Only Clint Eastwood could do the epitome and antithesis of the perfect western a movie where the town lawman and the killer for hire have a showdown but the lawman is a brutal psycho and the killer is the good guy. Only Eastwood could do that.

It says something that even though I've seen this film probably 15 times through, that I still watch the trailer every now and again. Probably nostalgia, probably boredom, mostly likely because it is a great film and trailer, even more likely that I miss earlier 90's voice overs. God his wife must be happy.
