Kayla prevents Steve shooting Duke by stepping between them. Jo and Adrienne enter and Duke hurriedly seeks 'protection' behind Jo from the 'crazy' son. Duke makes a bunch of promises to Jo while Steve and Adrienne stand silently shaking their heads at her. Steve sets about delivering a persuasive speech to keep Jo in Salem. Duke leaves. Jo is scared and has second thoughts about not going with Duke. Kayla explains the Women's Shelter to Jo, who now seems open to the idea and eager to try out the opportunity of refuge...
This story line was very intense and the acting was outstanding. James Luisi really made Duke come across as a very evil and twisted man. Everyone in the story line was fantastic. I was on the edge of my seat.

R.I.P. James Luisi (Duke) and Joy Garrett (Jo). :( Wonderful acting by all of these talentful people. Unfortunately, there are plenty of real-life Duke and Jo Johnsons out there....

Steve should have just shoot his abusive daddy Duke; Steve could have wrapped up Duke's worthless woman beatin drunken body into a big blanket & dump it into the Salem pier. Duke's stinky corps might drifted far out were there's sharks.

I would have love to hear Steve ask Kayla if she was alright after Duke hit her.
