I am really interested in becoming a chopper pilot. Dad wanted me to join the Air Force but if I am going to pilot anything, I want to pilot a chopper. I'm going up to MEPS next week to sign up. I have a 4-year bachelors degree and got a 78 on the ASVAB, but all of the recruiters talk about how exclusive Officer Candidate School is, and that they don't think my college GPA of like 3.0 or 3.1 will get me in.
@SeanHatley No the actual cut off age for Warrant Officer for Flight is 32. Not 27. Just thought you might want to know. I keep up on these. Worked my ass off already for my E5 now all I need is to get my GT score up there. Just shy of 110. Love to be a Pilot in the Army. Fun job.
@Death2theFish Joining the Army National Guard is a quick way to go to WOCS faster than you would in Active Duty. Get a score of 110 or better on GT on your ASVAB. Get a MOS around Aviation. Work your ass off and you can go to WOCS as a Specialist(E4) and not have to be a Sargent(E5). Cut off age for Warrant Officer in Aviation is 27. Just don't be a spotlight ranger!
Hey thanks, what kind of 2 year degree would you recommend getting? And what kind of MOS for me to be able to stay around the CWO's? And btw I will go in as an E3 because of 4 years of high school JROTC
@Death2theFish trust me the Army has a lot of hot women (in & around bases) that can take you off your plan. Also when you do make be prepared to be deployed a lot!!!!! But hey is good flight time & good pay plus you don't have to deal with all the politics of a Commission Officer like I do!
@Death2theFish Get a 2yr degree the minimum because Warrant Officer packets are competitive! Also Kiss a lot of CWO's asses you are going to need many as you can. Let them know off the bat that your main goal to be a CWO. Buy some flight simulator games, volunteer to do extra work with CWO's that might mean on your off time go on a bunch practice runs with them! Pick a MOS that is closely based around aviation: Electrical, Repair, Machanic. Less partying more studying the Army can be a orgy fest
Army Reg says that you have to have uncorrected vision of 20/50 (I believe) or better. I had laser eye surgery (my eyes were 20/400) and pass an Army flight physical just fine. Talk to your local recruiter and go to the USAREC Warrant Officer recruiting website.
