This brand new tape was first introduced on BBC1 in 1985 as a replacement for the first Falklands tape, Water Mountain, which had already been taken out of service on BBC2 in January 1984, but unlike this special tape, Sombrero wasn't duplicated on BBC2, but only came into service to coincide with the new logo which had been introduced onto the Test Card. Sombrero was to last until July 1985 when it was replaced with Songs Of Life. The tracks feaatured in this clip are: 1. Sombrero; 2. Swan Song; 3. Have A Nice Day; 4. Vesper. Enjoy!!!!

BBC1 in 1985 seems to be a bit of a gap in my music memory. I hardly remember this tape at all, just the first track and a couple of tracks in the last section which seemed almost merged together.

is that the section which has some tuneful violin-playing?

The middle section of this tape is fabulous :-)

A pleasant tape, but sadly too short-lived. I never really got a chance to hear this one properly as I always seemed to be at school!
