Ouch. I'm not wise enough to judge people, but this was making me embarrassed for them. You're supposed to memorize the entirety of everything. Reading from a book will get you nowhere. There's way too much light and too many useless observers in that room. It's not a show... Nothing in that room is tuned to the work. Did they buy a copy of the Goetia just two hours before they filmed this?
@maxdracula: I agree completely. It hurt to watch this.

Was that dude who rushed into the circle after the ritual started supposed to be the bornless one in the flesh???

Practice makes perfect.

@typhon3808 Since spirits are energy forms themselves, it is easier and more apparent to them to "grab onto the electrical energy" in the device first since electricity is more akin to their own nature (as opposed to the smoke inside the Triangle). The electrical energy in the device attract the entity before the smoke in the Triangle because it understands the energy more than the smoke particles.

@typhon3808 It is a great point that you mention an entity's use of incense to assemble itself into this physical plane/density. Electronics are a bad idea near any type of occult activity for many reasons including the ones you mentioned: when a spirit is "panicking" while it's being pulled from its plane to this one, it will latch onto anything once it gets here, including cameras, electric lamps, etc. The electrical energy in motion inside these devices are too easily accessed by the spirit.

@acidrain1976 This happened to me REPEATEDLY when I stayed at the Stanley Hotel in Estes Park in 2010 (I experienced actual phenomena there). I was not the only one this happened to and, apparently, this is a common occurence. Just the same as an entity would use the smoke of the incense to manifest its form in the Triangle, it can definitely use electrical energy to increase its own power even if just temporarily. Not a good idea... LOL

@acidrain1976 You know, your idea about electronic devices being in area wherein an evocation to the physical plane is performed is something I hadn't thought of. I've had incidences where I was filming in a location that was reported to be haunted and the battery in my camera went completely dead just before we experienced what most call poltergeist activity. I think that entities can (and do) use energy from electronic devices as power sources when trying to manifest or do something.

@typhon3808 I hear ya... Breaking the Circle at any point during the ceremony just has "bad idea" written all over it. I must say that I'm still in opposition to filming an Evocation although "lodge training" could be the best use of such a practice. If they are part of a lodge, a "dry run" Evocation would be much better for learning purposes. The less amount of electronic devices in the temple, the better... but to each their own, I guess. (Deleted and edited this post)

@acidrain1976 I don't have a problem with filming it if it is being used as a teaching tool (possibly even just for other members of the lodge), but my main problem was with the two walking in and out of the circle like that AFTER starting the evocation ritual. There are numerous historical incidences wherein this kind of disregard and thinking this is a game ended very badly for the people toying with it. The one that comes immediately to my mind is the Bokim incident (as I call it)...

@typhon3808 Hey, I agree with you. At least they ARE attempting it, but it still hurt to watch. Evocation is not a joke or a toy. No self-respecting magician(s) would ever film such a holy Rite, much less display that Rite on the internet. It means that they are seeking social approval and/or notoriety. However, I'm sure that they have all learned by now though, and are probably practicing in secret with a much smaller group (or alone which is far better and more personal of an experience).

@acidrain1976 Maybe they did just buy a copy. At least they are attempting it, etc. I think they could be forgiven for fumbling if they were just getting started (everyone needs to start learning from somewhere). However, if they are this sloppy two years later, I would definitely NOT work with them because I couldn't trust them. If they're still that inept, I would say "shame on you!" This could be very dangerous in that case...
Since multiple people asked about the MPR, watchtowers, LBRP, and BHR...the temple is set in this ritual through the construction of the circle which is accompanied by psalm recitation, after which there is bathing and prayer before reentering. This was not included in the videos. The openings mentioned are all methods from Golden Dawn magic, and while this ritual was based on the Mather's variation of the Solomonic system, this system predates and therefore does not include those rituals

The addition of the Headless Invocation serves the same function which the LBRP would but in a more complete fashion, the circle prayer, plus the elements of its construction establish the divinity of the space.
