Actually, USA (until recently ofc) was the 'superpower' of the world (economically and socially if you look at how western society is) because of the amount of MNC's (Multi-national corporations) they had around the world. The western world is capatilist i.e whoever is taking the most gross is a superpower. China got in there somehow being the second biggest economic power funnily enough. Then it's Britain, Japan and Russia. (top 5)
