  • Why of course!!..The head of the school district with the worse students, worse

test scores, most failed "progressive" programs, highest crime rate, most thoroughly

    "dumbed down" curriculum, laziest teachers..

should be in charge of everything!! After all the Liberal vision of "education" is such a success story.

  • He was just tapped by Obama as the new Secretary of Education.

I don"t understand this, because Chicago has some of the worst schools in the country.

  • This guy's entire track record in education is failure. Let's promote him to the highest position in education! Fire this tool, and use his salary to buy textbooks.

  • its wrong to steal money from people to fund other peoples children's education...you have no morals to impede your rush to control others

  • I would love to see Mr. Arne Duncan attempt to teach Algebra at McGavock High School in Nashville,Tennessee!

Hey, if he's qualified to evaluate teachers, he should be qualified to teach students! Or is he just another arm-chair quarterback?

How about it, Mr. Duncan? Would you try it for a few months? Kind of like that NBC show, Undercover Boss!

  • @AtlanticaPhoenix How about instead of giving the school more options about how to regard the individual, we give the individual more options about how to regard the school? As you indicated, not everyone should be in school; and school should not be one thing. Who knows what kind of aprprenticeship arrangements or trade schools or whatever would develop, and how superior they would be to today's system, if there was no longer a monopoly on education.

  • We need less school time in public schools in the United States. We also need the time we do spend in school to be less unnecessary nonsense such as 50 similar math problems for homework. Public schools should give more choices and not require a person to dedicate their lives to school to do well. If you want oppressive schools, go to a private school or Japan. You can not force people to build space ships, ony the people that want to will do so. My video addressing this should be up shortly.

  • That's Lurch from the Adams Family.

  • sorry liberal progressives utopia does not exist , not on this earth.

  • it all sounds warm and fuzzy...it might be a good thing in the hands of those who don't want to use our kids for evil purposes.

  • Duncan now is in Washington and the After school program funding has been cut starting fall 2009 in Chicago for children with Autism. Good Job Arne!
