All these comments simply have city envy...Vancouver is not just great ..it's spectacularly beautiful and the people more social liberal than the rest of Canada. Dream on Toronto and move over...Vancouver's number 1. Get over it haters.

Vancouver shows up at the top of several of these lists. All that proves is we have some excellent marketing talent here. The United Nations Special Rapporteur on Housing visited the city in 2007 when complaints were filed by local lawyers when it became apparent homelessness had tripled since we won the Olympic Host City bid competition a few years before. Our bid book contained promises to ensure it wouldn't happen. British Columbia has the highest child poverty rate in Canada for 8 years.

Vancouvers awesome. I've traveled around the world and every time I can't wait to get back here.....other than Singapore you really won't find somewhere cleaner...the majority of people take care of themselves in terms of exercising and look great. The rain is really not as bad as people make it out to be. There's so much happening here, you just need to get out and find out about all the little perks of this fabulous city.

@mspurrsia singapore, is it where they have this middle-age punishment beating you with sticks for littering? Yeah, vancouver is pretty close, they've banned smoking recently (on the outside!) which I think is hypocritical considering it's unaddressed horrible drug problems (which nobody even tries to address) and immature and uncivilized since policing and telling what to do to grown-up people by the means of by-laws and tax collection. Singapore is a model for future controlled sterile city.
