This is an emotional reaction to a situation that enrages me. Please PLEASE, if you're interested in learning more, check out the whole NPR interview:

And the book by Jeff Sharlet:

Also, Rachel Maddow has been all over this. I'm feeling too lazy to provide all the links, but a simple YouTube search will give you lots of her coverage of this thing over the past month.

You Christians voted for them
You defend them
You will bow to them unless they are stopped.

If THIS is the "Christian foundation" that this nation is built upon, we don't want it. Take your
foundation far away. We've got our own.

  • We all sin, but in the case of these guys the sin is mixed with sanctimonious hypocrisy. Also, after Charlie Manson, what organization would want to refer to itself as "The Family"?

  • Yeah, it's a pretty poor choice of names.

  • Wow, so 1.) a politician who professes belief in Christ is less than perfect, and 2.) power corrupts. Let me consider this carefully.

Imagine if they were atheist leaders, like Hitler, Stalin or Pol Pot? Their thirst for power led them to fashion themselves into being their own God.

As I stated earlier, we should thank God for making us Americans, and giving us the rights of freedom and liberty that we enjoy so much.

  • I'm beginning to suspect that you didn't watch my video.

All politicians (and all other humans) are less than perfect. But the ones in the video believe they are above morality, by divine right. They believe that Jesus made them leaders, and therefore they do not have to abid by the same morals that the rest of us hold dear. An atheist, whether a law abiding one or a vicious tyrant, cannot just shrug off responsibility for their own wrongdoing by saying "I'm chosen by Jesus".

  • And once again, the revisionist history you're spouting is really off topic. People have put to rest the notion that the 20th century dictators you mentioned were acting on any impulse related to atheism. But regardless, it's not related to the despicable political leaders in THIS country, in THIS century who are committing atrocities in the name of Jesus.

  • All smart people should realize the following:

There are Bible verses etched in stone all over Federal Buildings and Monuments in Washington, D.C. !

James Madison, the fourth president, known as "The Father of Our Constitution" said: "We have staked the whole of all our political institutions upon the capacity of mankind for self-government, upon our capacity to govern and control ourselves, and to sustain ourselves according to the Ten Commandments of GOD."

I could go on and on!

  • So could I. So rather than seeing which side can quote mine the founding fathers more, let's focus on the pathetic acts of political and social unconscionability being perpetrated in the name of Jesus in our own time, by leaders in our own government. That's the purpose of this video.

  • Just watch and listen to all the YouTube Christian apologists say something like, "Well, these aren't REAL Christians. You can't blame our religion because some people who CALL themselves Christian do these things."

  • Wow, awesome video. The whole C-street thing is pretty fucking scary. That along with Blackwater companies starting a modern crusade against Iraqi civilians. The U.S. is starting to really look like the bad guys to me, and I'm becoming less Patriotic with every story I hear.

For the love of mankind, don't vote another Republican into office in 2010!!! (or 2012)

  • Another well-produced video! Yes, it's amazing what rationalizations come out of the mouths of so-called "Christians", (or some Muslims, etc etc.). Thanks! and thumbs definitely UP on this one, too!

  • @davidknoxville yeah, but which god, posidon, osirus, wotan, zeus, muhammed, yaweh, thor, horus.

etc. so many gods ,but which one is the true path to nonsense. enlightened nonsense of course.mmmm

  • @davidknoxville Really?? Faith in God keeps us from tearing each other apart? Why then do atheistic countries (such as Sweden) have MUCH lower rates of murder, rape, teenage pregnancy, etc. etc. etc. than religious countries such as the U.S.?

  • @davidknoxville Actually Thomas Jefferson was "the father of our constitution." :D

  • what about the inquisition ? Or Queen Mary I ? An many others who killed, tortured and massacred in the name of Religion.

  • davidknoxville

Making you American is all fine & dandy -

remember that having that wealth and power gives you responsibility as well.

Lets hope that you have the moral fiber to make best use of those God-given gifts.

    .

  • these guys - they don't even understand what you're talking about. they represent the american people's level of understanding. this is so over their head, they can only relate to their previous understanding of the world before the family.

the important thing is that INTELLIGENT people understand what's going on, so they can stop it.
