This is another attempt at Camera Mapping in 3D, but using Blender 3d instead of After Effects. The artwork is by Linda Carothers BTW.

The painting was scanned into the computer and cut up in Photoshop. Then it was mapped to 3d shapes in Blender 3d using sticky textures. The goose was animated with the puppet tool and composited in After Effects CS5. I was able to place the bird in the scene thanks to the plug-in by Paolo Ciccone to export the camera data from Blender 3D to After Effects.

  • thats great Brian! I like it... i wish i knew what the original painting looked like befor it was layered in Photoshop so that i knew where the goose was originally

  • Alan,

The goose is actually pretty much where it was in the actual painting. I tried to make the model exactly as the painting was.

I have some plans to do more experiments like this in the future too.
