Richard Dawkins is a British ethologist, evolutionary biologist and popular science author. He was formerly Professor for Public Understanding of Science at Oxford University. He was voted Britain's leading public intellectual by readers of Prospect magazine and was named one of Time Magazine's "100 Most Influential People" for 2007.

Dawkins came to prominence with his 1976 book "The Selfish Gene", which popularised the gene-centred view of evolution and introduced the term "meme". He is a prominent critic of creationism and intelligent design. In his 1986 book "The Blind Watchmaker", he argued against the watchmaker analogy, an argument for the existence of a supernatural creator based upon the complexity of living organisms. Instead, he described evolutionary processes as analogous to a blind watchmaker. He has since written several popular science books, and makes regular television and radio appearances, predominantly discussing these topics.

Richard Dawkins is an atheist, secular humanist, sceptic, scientific rationalist, and supporter of the Brights movement. In his 2006 book "The God Delusion", he contends that a supernatural creator almost certainly does not exist and that faith qualifies as a delusion − as a fixed false belief.

always wondered what Dawkins would have sounded in a lecture hall ... that was very deep. his explanation on the formation of protein made me wonder about the possibilities of what else could be in the universe ....

This man is a dick off camera. He is also extremely dogmatic. Atheists - the only group more ignorant than christians. I'm not religious - but atheists are more religious than they realize. Not even kidding. Don't try to disprove it - be a skeptic for once and be open to the idea that you are dumb and ignorant - you may find in a short while that you really are 'a cosmic shmuck' as RAW put it hehe.

@ThoseWereTheDays56 In reality,god to you is everything that is currently unknown to us and this unknown you say is a god and this god is a physical entity.You are taking your lack of understanding or lack of knowledge and placing something more comfortable to the human mind on it.Something we can understand to some extent,an all powerful being that can be used as a catch all answer to anything we currently don't know or understand.God is basically a placeholder for knowledge

I understand Ben Stein went to University somewhere...but he sure didn't earn a science or LOGIC degree for that matter.

His movie "Expelled" is sooooo bad, both intellectually and theatrically-it's just BORING.

The majority of people don't understand evolution...I've had to really work on understanding its finer points, more subtle points and ramifications. I'm just reading "On the original of species". I have a degree in the biological sciences and yet I was never required to read that book.

interesting how dawkins had a chance to explain and defend himself about the interview with ben stein and "believing in little green men". and to me, his explanation sounds very reasonable.

I wish Dr William Lane Craig followers would take that into consideration when calling dawkins a "chicken shit" just because he's not interested in debating him. It's pathetic and very insecure to childishly set an empty chair out for dawkins to demonstrate dawkins "cowardliness".

Dawkins does not rule out the possibility of alien life. No self-respecting evolutionary biologist would ever.

Dont let the fact that Intelligent Design holds almost no merit whatsoever hold you back.
