Narrator: Media attention was firmly focused on New York when Iran's president, Mahmoud Ahmadi Nejad, addressed the General Assembly of the United Nations. His speeches in the Big Apple along with the protests against him made it to all the prime time news shows.
But across the Atlantic in London a simultaneous smaller-scale event received far less coverage. A multifaith delegation tried to deliver a letter to the Iranian Embassy protesting the actions of Tehran.
Jonathan Taylor (Mizrachi UK): First of all the Iranian people as a people are of course good friends of the Jews and of course of many other people in the world; the Christians as well. But we feel that the present actions of the Islamic Revolutionary Government are flagrantly breaching human rights and are not giving the people in Iran, the vast majority of the people therefore to be heard in a democratic fashion.
Chakudi Amazu (Black-Majority Churches): For me, I think that Israel should have, the Jewish people should have their rights to their land and that every Jew and that every Jewish child and family should live without the threat of being, the shadow of being annihilated. Nobody would like that.
Geoffrey Smith (Christian Friends of Israel UK): This is really the horror of what happened in the 1930s; that the rest of the world didn't take it seriously enough and they allow the Jewish people to go to suffer. This time we are saying we will stand with you before that happens.
Narrator: Speaking at the same time at UN Headquarters, Mahmoud Ahmadi Nejad stressed he has absolutely nothing against the Jewish people. On previous occasions he has suggested all Jews leave Israel and return to what he called their original homes in Eastern and Central Europe.
