10/4/2011: With Halloween just around the corner, pumpkins are fresh in everybody's mind as the Fall season gets underway. And pumpkins were most certainly on my mind on an early Fall night in October when loaded Providence and Worcester stone train CHFP got the call to make any appearance on the Northeast Corridor featuring two of the railroad's newest locomotive acquisitions that still wearing the Heritage II BNSF paint of their previous ownership! We'll follow the train through Fairfield County along the Metro-North owned New Haven Line portion of the Northeast Corridor in a few locations, capping off a great weekend home before heading back up to Boston.

(NOTE: The MNCR 1595 at Stratford should read as "MNCR 1595 - Fairfield", and not Stratford. I can't believe this error made it in, I guess I was getting this done as quickly as I could and I merely skipped over it, with this being my 3rd time editing this compilation together due to prior compression issues during uploading)

  • Great job. Love the P & W. Such a cool railroad

  • @jeffdavis13 Thanks a lot! They're a cool little road, it's just a challenge to lens them sometime as the majority of their core through-train operations take place under the cover of darkness across their system. Luckily for the stone service, there's plenty of station lighting across the NEC to light the way.

  • Nice chase. What are track speeds for freights on the NEC like aroind here?

  • @MainlineProductions1 Thanks dude, and I'm actually still trying to figure that out myself. I know that there is a 5 MPH restriction through Southport (Fairfield), but other than that I'm not entirely sure. Considering that Metro-North doesn't let Amtrak go past 80 I doubt the P&W and phantom CSX moves break any land speed records. As per my CSX timetable ("Eastern NY and New England Routes #2", issued in 2004), the range is anywhere between 10 and 40, though I'm sure it's changed some since.

  • Great video man, And haha you mentioning Deer Park, You have been there!

  • @NS6677 How could I forget? I got sexually assaulted by a beagle multiple times in the same time in that Long Island town!

  • @ebtmikado So YOU'RE the guy from Connecticut that he was with that day! I remember where I was that day, you guys walked all over me with the comparison of how many trains you got during that day versus how many I got haha. Marc's having quite the trip this weekend.

  • @pahogger You're right, it definitely worked out nicely! I'm not sure where those pumpkins are now, I think they left stone service not too long after I shot this one, I'd been trying to get these for over a year now, I'll have to find you a photo of the Warbonnet that they painted up and send it to ya, it looks pretty sharp in their colors. And this definitely a fun night, I had forgotten how fun chasing really is!
