The second annual God Debate features atheist neuroscientist Sam Harris and Evangelical Christian apologist William Lane Craig as they debate the topic: "Is Good From God?" The debate was sponsored in large part by the Notre Dame College of Arts and Letters: The Henkels Lecturer Series, The Center for Philosophy of Religion and the Institute for Scholarship in the Liberal Arts.

    That's completely wrong.

The believers are the ones who believe in a claim. The non-believers are the ones who don't believe in the claim. It's up to the believers to convince the non-believers that they are correct.

If I told you that "Magical Flying Leprechauns" existed, then you wouldn't be the one "who had all the explaining to do" just because you don't believe me. I would be the one who had to explain why my beliefs are logical, and I would have to present evidence for my claim.

Am I the only one who thinks Craig sounds like a robot at times?

I agree with Sam Harris; however, there is one problem with his argument. The fact that religion is evil does not mean it is not true. Reality may indeed be the creation of a sadistic monster. I prefer to oppose such a being.

Which God are you referring to? Christian? Islamic? Mayan? Egyptian? One of Hindu Gods? Aboriginal? Aztec? Inca? Native Australian? One of many African Gods? They ALL have their different legends on how the world was created, why the sun rises and sets, what causes rain, thunder and lightning, etc. So if someone who believes in one of those Gods asked you "how was the universe created if you don't believe in my God?" what would you answer?

As an atheist, we don't know exactly how it was created.

Sam Harris: maximising well-being is by definition good.

William Lane Craig: God's arbitrary rules are by definition good.

Wow. Why didn't I think of that!

How original. You do understand that Christians do not to believe in Flying Leprechauns (insert spaghetti monster), right, and how absurd that sounds?

    Simple logical example:

    Given: The Universe Exists

Binary Option: 1)All the matter of the unvierse spontateously came into existence from nothing. 2) The opposite of option 1.

-If 2 is correct and possesses intelligence, there must be a.. (you fill in the blank.. hmmm flying Leprechauns?? Hmm, nope. Unicornes? nope, nope, hmm what could it be)

If you are still atheistic after listening to Craig and Kreeft, there is simply no hope for you. Brainwashing has don a number on your reasoning ability regarding the notion that everything is material - a superstition.
