in season 4 i was hoping that when desmond left back that charlie opened the door before he had drowned and that they would fined him on the island

Ya, that would have been nice obviously, but remember- Desmond had a vision thing that Penny came to the island, and Charlie got hit in the neck with an arrow. Since he saved Charlie, Penny didn't come. Same thing would have happened this time; If Charlie saved himself, the helicopter wouldn't have came. Charlie knew that he had to die in order for rescue to come, so he let himself die. He definitely had time to get out of the room, but he chose to sacrifice himself instead :(
