i will say it again...

the public is quickly moving to be supportive of homosexual civil rights. it is inevitable that the the near future will see gays openly serving in the military (and they are not making their non-chosen sexuality public any more or any less than heteros) and same sex marriage will be legally recognized. This WILL happen whether you like or not.

Go to the center for military readiness' web site for a clear understanding of how military officers feel about DADT. It will clear up some of the questions some of you have about DADT.

I didn't hear the U.S. military complaining when the British military among others joined our forces in Iraq and Afghanistan, a military that has openly gay men and women fighting alongside our own. Where was the lack of cohesion and morale then?

what I don't get about this STUPID policy is that ANYONE can use it as an excuse to run away from battle. Anyone can simply claim to be gay and get out.

The military does not "tolerate" dishonesty. The military forces dishonesty one no one. Only the dishonest choose dishonesty. Morality is black and white otherwise we end up in slavery appeasing the enemy. Oh virgins aren't queer. Virgins have simply been rejected by mate selection. @ToxicOdiousOne 'if they have a problem with policy, then they shouldn't serve." Many do not serve because of the policy. So straight marines are already serving with gay marines who pretend to have a girl friend in order not to be suspected of being gay. Gay marines act dishonestly by laughing at gay jokes and boasting about their sexual exploits while on liberty (off duty). DADT doesn't stop gay marines from serving. It stops gay Americans who would enlist were it not for the DADT policy.

@ToxicOdiousOne "you have heard no argument that it will improve fighting wars". I suspect you could fill a library with what you "haven't" heard. You need to expand your commentators beyond Glen Beck, Bill O'Reily, Ann Culter and Rush Limbaugh in order to hear the arguments that are supported by the Top Military Leadership at the Pentagon. They are behind it. Stop being un-patriotic and get behind the policies of our military leadership.

@ToxicOdiousOne "Recruitment will decrease" - first, hand in your Psychic Friends Network employee card. They filed bankruptcy years ago. Second, for those of US (not you) who WENT to bootcamp and showered and slept with gay recruits next to us, we discovered boot camp is a cross section of America. We had rich/poor, black/white, jews/christians, gay/straight. We all got hair cuts and were told we're equally worthless. At graduation, we were told we were now worth something. We were Marines.
