I first saw James "Super Chikan" Johnson at the Chicago Blues Festival a few years ago and was totally mesmerized with his stage personality, antics, and playing. Fast forward a few years to the 2010 Legendary Rhythm & Blues Cruise where I shot this video of James & his band The Fighting Cocks doing a song he calls "Sippy Seekan Saw" from his "Sum 'Mo' Chikan" CD on the VizzTone label. That's his daughter Jameisa on drums. James is a Mississippi Blues musician, songwriter, artist, & guitar maker who calls Clarksdale Mississippi home. Please support "Live" Blues by asking your local Blues Club, Society and/or Festival to book Super Chikan & the Fighting Cocks, then go out to see the show & pick up some of their CD's. Doing so will help keep hard working musicians working & will keep the Blues alive.

Went to Ground Zero a few years back to see Big Jack Johnson ( Chikan's uncle) . It was standing room only. unbeknownst to me at the time I was standing beside Super Chikan had a nice conversation with him . Found out a few weeks later I had been talking with Chikan. Great musician and entertainer Nice video.
