Brother Paul takes Ken and me for a gentle, boozy day on the River Thames in his new (second hand) twin-engined cruiser.

  • Nice trip with friends...and a few jars....lol

Just wondered what sort of boat it is .....looks like a Freeman or an RLM as I fancy getting a river cruiser my self...ty

  • @TheAwsomeshell Hi! It's a PYTHON 27 from Tough Bros, Teddington and it's very old! Original engines were petrol but were later converted to diesel. Tech gumf (from brochure): Length 27ft; Beam 12ft; Draft 2ft 6ins; Displacement 4 tons; Fuel capacity 130gals; Water capacity 75 gals; Speed up to 30 knots. I wonder if it's still running. If you see it, take a pic and email it to me at petertietjen@gmail.com Thanks. All the best, Pete.

  • Twin engines are a very good idea if you’re going to be stupid enough to navigate the Thames in flood when the lock was clearly displaying red boards. And to add booze to it just shows their ignorance

  • @CptPugwash999 Don't worry, Mr Elfansafety, experienced boat-handlers and boozers don't let a little thing like a flood put 'em off. Bring back the rum ration I say! Aar, Ha-Har!

    Body located after boat capsizes

    (UKPA) – 1 hour ago

Police divers searching for two missing men after a boat carrying six passengers capsized have found a body, police said.

Rescuers were called after the vessel overturned on a stretch of the River Thames near Shepperton, Surrey, on Sunday evening.

  • @CptPugwash999 Ooh! Dear oh dear! Well, Mr Elfansafety, you're right after all. Obviously we must stop access to all waterways immediately. God forbid anybody should have any fun while people like you are sitting at home a-worrying and a-fretting on our behalf. Now then, where's m'spade? I better go and fill in my pond in case somebody falls in. Happy New Year!

  • Hmm. I know it sounds like overkill, but we bought the boat secondhand and the engines were inboard not outboards so there was no removal option. Actually, having twins came in extremely useful when the rivers Thames and Wey were in flood. At the junction of these two rivers, there was once a huge whirlpool and twin engines were just the ticket! Still scary though.

  • Do you really need two engines in a vessel that small?

  • lol i would realy like to go on a trip like that
