TLC - Waterfalls (solo slide guitar cover)

A little different from the usual slide guitar repertoire, needless to say, but I thought it would be fun to try.

GEAR: SX Hawk SE with a single GFS overwound hot rail humbucker in the middle position and homemade bridge (open E tuning), Dunlop Jimi Hendrix Fuzz Wah (fuzz off), and a Vox DA-5 with a little delay dialed in.

this is amazing! i might try to work out a lap style arrangement based on yours here.  great cover and great slide skills man, i gave up on electric slide and switched to lap and steel bar slide because i couldn't get the gentle touch right!

@imairlax Thanks! Yeah, lap style and round neck slide playing are two different worlds. I play lap style occasionally but prefer using a standard guitar (I even had a Strat strung for Hawaiian C6 for a while!). I use very heavy strings, basically the same as most "resophonic" sets (.016-.056) to get the same singing tone you get from a lap style guitar. Obviously, this renders the guitar unplayable in the traditional sense, but makes for good sliding!

Sounds great! What pickups do you prefer for slide playing?

@yinyangthang Thanks! I have an eclectic collection of slide guitars and enjoy variety, but I tend to prefer humbuckers in either the middle or bridge position as they cancel noise and pick up all of the higher harmonics.

Man, you really realize how bluesy that vocal line is when you play it with a slide guitar. Different instrumentation and that song could've been super soulful. Nice job again.
