Some great footage of the Animal Collective playing live at a FatCat event at the Gardener Arts Centre in Brighton. The event was in May 2003 and was part of the Brighton Festival.
This clip sees Animal Collective lined up as a duo of Avey Tare and Panda Bear, and this was the pair's first ever live show in the UK. (they had played two instores before at Rough Trade and Smallfish)

  • I was at this show they were supporting four tet. This was the first time I saw this band and they absolutely blew my mind. I saw them come out with their acoustic guitars and expected to be bored to tears by winey miserable songs. Instead they just erupted in fits and yelps and playing guitars like I've never seen anyone playing them.

  • @willlliw creativity

  • at 5:46 it looks like they have full down syndrome but I know their music and can attest to its creative genius
