the delegates pigmy part 1 and 2 aura records its no reggae or ska but ist a pretty good one if i may say so ....enjoy!!!! Organist Billy Larkin and The Delegates immediately came to the attention of the Los Angeles jazz audience when their first record was released, but they also picked up a larger audience when the teenagers discovered they could dance to it. Just as Ramsey Lewis, they had an appeal that far exceeded just the jazz listener. Basically a jazz trio with heavy emphasis on the blues, Billy Larkin and The Delegates was a versatile and dynamic group that reached into all corners of music to come up with a style and an approach that is both fresh and distinctive.

  • Thanks for uploading this great groove Pigmy!

I just recently heard of Billy Larkin & The Delegates and found out that they have a number of really good records.

Larkin is great at the organ, has a very good Hammond sound, distinctive and a little bit dirty, and the guitarist is also very good. Overall this is a very tigh swinging group with good arrangements.

    Keep swinging,

  • Crazy!

  • Another great guitarist who played with Billy was Seattle's Pernell Alexander, who went on to local fame in Dan Bonow's Juggernaut (1967-70). Pernell was a cousin and associate of Jimi Hendrix's in the early Seattle days. Pernell had his own version of Cuci Freedom Man that he called "Hoochie-Cuci Freedom Man," and it was jaw-droppin' good! The drummer, Mel Brown, of course became famous later in his own right, and is currently one of the 'A list' organ drummers in Portland.

  • Love this track. It WAS released on a Billy Larkin and the Delegates album but only pt 1. So nice to hear pt 2!!

  • Many Thanks For The Post !!
